Camiguin, Philippines → Neulich im Restaurant…
Auf dem Board stand:
“Ciabatta with grilled Chicken Fillet & Red Pesto, served with Tomato & Cucumber Salad”.
So weit so gut.
Für die Küche lautete die Instruktion:
“Please serve the salad with our normal Mayonnaise & Garlic dressing”.
Serviert wurde Mayonnaise mit gehacktem Knoblauch dazu.
Auch lecker.
Aber…
Well it’s funnier in english….
Me: “What happened to our regular salad dressing?
Kitchen: “You said Mayonnaise & Garlic dressing, Mam.”
Me: “Yes. Exactly.”
Kitchen: “Yes.”
Me: “So what did you serve?”
Kitchen: “Garlic Mayonnaise only, Mam.”
Me: “So you didn’t use the dressing like for the other salads?”
Kitchen: “No, Mam.”
Me: “Why?”
Kitchen: “Which dressing?”
Me: “Well… which one are you usually using for our salads?”
Kitchen: “We have Garlic Dressing only, Mam. Or Balsamic Dressing, Mam.”
Me: “Hm”.
Kitchen: “Mam. There is no Mayonnaise & Garlic Dressing, Mam.”
Me: *** puzzled ***
Kitchen: *** puzzled too ***
Me: *** still speechless ***
Kitchen: *** texting with mobile phone ***
Me: “So what are the ingredients of the normal G-a-r-l-ic- Dressing for our salads?”
Kitchen: “Mayonnaise & Garlic, Mam.”
